email client migration guide

Please note: These instructions are for people who use an email client to fetch their NewtelSurf email.
If you only access your NewtelSurf account using the web interface ( http://webmail.newtelsurf.com ) then you do not need to do anything. Just login to the webmail portal with your email address and password.

Microsoft Outlook

  1. Open Outlook program
  2. Click on Tools then E-Mail Accounts
  3. Select View or change existing e-mail accounts then click Next
  4. Select NewtelSurf email account and click Change
  5. Change Incoming mail server to pop.newtelsurf.com and Outgoing mail server to smtp.newtelsurf.com entries as below

Enabling SMTP Auth
It is recommended that all customers enable SMTP Auth for outgoing email. This will allow your email client to send from other locations.
  1. Click "More Settings" on the screen above
  2. Select the outgoing server tab and tick the requires authentication box with the use same settings as my incoming mail server option.

Microsoft Outlook Express

  1. Open Outlook Express
  2. Click on Tools then Accounts
  3. Select NewtelSurf email account and click Properties
  4. Select Servers tab
  5. Change entries for Incoming mail to pop.newtelsurf.com and Outgoing mail to smtp.newtelsurf.com as below
  6. Tick the box for "My server requires authentication"
  7. Click settings to ensure the outgoing server is set to use the same user and password.

Vista Mail

  1. Open Vista Mail
  2. Click on Tools then Accounts
  3. Select NewtelSurf email account and click Properties
  4. Select Servers tab

  6. Tick the box for "My server requires authentication"

Mac Mail

  1. Open Mac Mail
  2. Select Preferences, then click on Accounts
  3. Select NewtelSurf email account and click Server Settings
  4. Change entries for Incoming mail server to pop.newtelsurf.com and Outgoing mail server to smtp.newtelsurf.com as below

Other email clients

Please note: We cannot offer specific instructions for email clients we do not support, however the following procedure should work. Please visit the support website for your specific email client if you have any issues.
  1. Launch your email client (e.g. Thunderbird).
  2. Select the account settings page for your NewtelSurf account
  3. Change the Incoming mail server to pop.newtelsurf.com
  4. Change the Outgoing mail server to smtp.newtelsurf.com
  5. Save your settings.
  6. Programs like Thunderbird may ask for your password the first time you fetch and send email.
